Brown Bread
Mary Birt
1 CUP Molasses
1 Egg
2 CUP Sour Milk
1 TSP Soda
2 CUP Corn Meal
1 CUP Flour
1 TSP Salt

Mix all together.

Use a coffee can or similar mold (1 lb size).

Butter inside and fill 2/3 full of mix.

Place a rack in the bottom of a kettle, add water to cover bottom.

Place mold on top and steam for 3 hours or until springs back and is not sticky.

Cool a few minutes and turn out, serve warm.

Use care on water level, steam not boil, so do not have mold in the water.
