Violet Cake
Mary Birt
4 TBL Butter
4 TBL Powdered Sugar
4 Eggs - well beaten
1/4 LB Flour
2 OZ Rice Flour
1/8 TSP Vanilla
1 TSP Baking Powder
1/4 CUP Milk
Chopped glazed cherries
White Frosting
Crystallized Violet

Warm butter and powdered sugar, add eggs, mix well.

Sift in flour and rice, then add vanilla, baking powder and milk. Mix well.

Pour half mixture into well shortening and floured pan.

Add a layer of cherries and pour in the remaining batter.

Bake at 350F for 30 minutes.

Cool and frost with white frosting and sprinkle violet over the top.
