Walnut Strips

1/2 CUP Shortening
1/2 CUP Brown Sugar
1/4 CUP Boiling Water
1/2 CUP Molasses
3 CUP Cake Flour
1 1/2 CUP Walnuts - fine chopped
1 TSP Salt
1 TSP Baking Soda
1 TSP Ginger
1/8 TSP Cloves - ground
1/4 TSP Nutmeg

Cream shortening with brown sugar. Add water to molasses.

Sift together dry ingredients, add alternately with shortening and molasses.

Chill.  Roll into strips 1x3.  Sprinkle with nuts.

Bake at 350F for 12 minutes.
