Mustard Cucumber Slices

12 Green Cucumbers - thin slice
3 lbs Small onions
 
 
Peel and slice the onions as for table use.  
Put into a brine of 1/2 cup salt to one quart water.  
Stand for several hours, then drain and rinse in cold water.
 
1 Cup Flour
2 Cup Brown Sugar
1 1/2 tsp Celery Seed
1 tsp White Pepper
1 tsp Turmeric
1/2 tsp Salt
1 tsp Dry Mustard Powder
1 1/2 Qts Vinegar

 

Mix the dry and add vinegar, 

gradually bring the mixture to a simmer

and stir to make a smooth sauce.  Add drained vegetables.

Bring back to a simmer and cook for 5 minutes.

Spoon into hot jars, seal and store..
